In November 2001 I joined four Oxfam supporters and two Oxfam hosts on a week-long privately-funded trip to Ethiopia. We went to meet local staff and beneficiaries and see Oxfam-supported projects.

I hope that this short, personal photodiary offers a fuller understanding of a country that so many people only know from Band Aid.

The situation in Ethiopia is complicated, and the charming people who live there deserve a more complimentary and less patronising picture of their country. I hope the following helps redress the balance..
